Tradition as Inspiration
OYA
[sameheight]
Women were inspired by the magical nature of Anatolia and used their skills in their wonderful crafts with patience.
Oya is a needle knotted lace, which goes back till the 8th century BC to the Phrygians of Anatolia. It is handcrafted, without a frame, just using needle and thread.
It was not only used on headdresses and scarfs but on undergarments, towels, napkins as well.
Every flower, every color in oya had a symbolic significance. It was the way of women of speaking love, hope, expectations…
“Like Oya” is still an expression of beauty in Turkish society.
You can find here beautiful oya articles made by creative women from different regions of Anatolia, with different techniques and usage and design

This culture for physical and mental cleansing is still alive. Several accessories like peshtemal (hammam towels), nalin (Clogs), kese (peeling mitts), tas (bowl) are being still used in a wider range.
Hammam Towels are nowadays the famous from these accessoiries, but that’s not all.

Conversations without tea are like a night sky without the moon!
Tea is an integrative part of daily life and hospitality. Everywhere people drink tea, everywhere and at any time you can receive hospitality offers to join for a cup. Tea is culture in the country.
Differing from the usual tradition to drink strong black tea prepared in a samovar like system (two teapots stacked on one another, one with a larger chamber to keep the hot water, a smaller one on top where the strong concentrated tea is brewed) we herewith offer you specialties of green- and semi-oxidized tea leaves, hand plucked and produced by the young generation around the center of tea production located in Rize, at the shore of the Black Sea. The preparation of our teas follows more the tradition of China and Japan but the taste is unique: a real Turkish tea!”
